GUC - Mountaineering educational center

Mountain hut Planinski dom na Zelenici has a mountain training center – GUC Zelenica, which is suitable for many educational events in connection with the mountain environment. Among these include lectures, courses, preventive and informative events, education and training courses and many more. GUC Zelenica can be accessed through customized offers with the support of other organizations (PZS, ZGVS, GRZS, …) or in ad-hoc services (information, guiding, equipment, organization, …).
GUC Zelenica provides comprehensive and excellent choices in one place with all the necessary infrastructure, equipment and knowledge, as well as organizational and logistical assistance in organizing their own programs of different mountain organizations and clubs.
For organizing own programs will also be available Planinski Dom na Zelenici with surroundings suitable for different types of courses (mountaineering courses, ZGVS, mountain guides, Alpine Touristic clubs, …), school trips, lectures with mountain themes for the general public…

Opening hours:
- From 1.6. until 30.9. open every day,
- from 1.10. until 31.5. from Friday from 12:00 to Sunday until 16:00, and all holidays and vacations. We will also be open for groups on other days.

Location and access
Dom na Zelenici 1536 m, Karavanke, Slovenija
Starting point: Ljubelj, arranged parking lot, state road Tržič-Ljubelj is transportable or arranged even in winter.
Access to Zelenica: from Ljubelj along the marked mountain path (1 hour 15 min), easy marked path.

Infrastructure

- Possibility to rent mountaineering equipment: helmets, climbing harnesses, avalanche equipment (poles, probes, shovels), snowshoes, ice axes, crampons,...
- Artificial climbing wall (in the building of the former early station of the Zelenica II chairlift)
THE CABLE CARS AND THE SKI FIELD ARE NO LONGER OPERATING.
We can arrange transportation of equipment to the cottage on Zelenica (summer or winter) by prior agreement.
Surroundings
- Ostenje Begunjščica, Stol, Orlice, Vrtača, Palec, Zelenjak, krnica Suho ruševje, Ljubeljšica ridge and Na Možeh ridge.
- The wider area includes the area of the Korošice and Košutice-Ljubeljska baba mountains, the western face of Veliki Vrh and the Košuta ridge.
- In winter, the surrounding area offers many possibilities for mountaineering tours, ski touring, winter hiking...

Climbing wall at Zelenica
In the facility of the former early station of the Zelenica II chairlift. - we arranged an artificial climbing wall in the immediate vicinity of Dom na Zelenica.
The possibility of use even in bad weather, in the rain, as a reinforcement and enrichment of courses, trainings, or simply as recreational exercise and climbing...
