Mountain hut Zelenica
1536 m, Karavanke
The Mountain hut is located on a small plain of the Zeleniška saddle between the northern ridge of Begunjščica and the southern slope of the Na Možeh border ridge. The first cottage on Zelenica was built in 1929 by five private individuals, but they did not want to rent it to the Market branch of the SPD; the cottage was burned down during the occupation. In 1950, the workers of the militia school, which was then in Begunje, started building a mountain hut; On December 15, 1952, the unfinished home was taken over for rent by PD Tržič, which urgently put it into service and opened it the following year. On July 24, 1962, the PD Tržič building was permanently owned by a contract between RSNZ, which was the owner of the building, and PZS. After taking over, the station was fully completed and equipped, and it was officially opened on January 19, 1966. In 1992, the entrance extension was built and a classroom was acquired. The hut burned down completely in December 1999. The Alpine club restored it, built it and it is now open again. The Gorniški učni center also operates within the hut.

Zelenica is a mountain caught between the northern ridges of Begunjščica in the south, the border ridge with Austria, Na Može and Vrtača in the north, and Srednji vrh in the west. At the same time, the enclosed plateau opens into the Podljubeljska valley to the east and the Završnica valley to the west. Due to its attractive location, the Planinski dom on Zelenica is well visited all year round - in the winter, skiers like to visit, and in the summer, hikers. Some choose only Zelenica as their destination, or the Dom na Zelenica is a transit point for them on hikes to Begunjščica, Roblek, Vrtača and Stol.
Views
The view from the hut or from a nearby vantage point is limited due to the nearby peaks and ridges, but that is why the view of the immediate surroundings is so much more beautiful. From the nearby upper station of the chair lift, there is a view of the rocky plateau between the ridge of Ljubeljščica in the north and the ridge of Begunjščica on the southern side of the plateau, along which the chair lift runs and further towards the Šentanska valley, above which rises the western part of Košuta; the entire southern side is filled with the bones of Begunjščica; on the western side is the undulating Zelenica valley, above which rises Srednji vrh, which obscures the view towards Stol; in the northwest is Vrtača; the northern side is bordered by the Na Možeh ridge. If we climb to the scenic top of the ridge, a beautiful view of the hilly Carinthian landscape opens up towards the Drava.

Curiosities and historical fragments
The mountain hut at Zelenica has a long history. The first hut was built in 1929 by a group of five individuals, but they were not ready to share it with the mountaineers or rent it to them.
It was burned down during the war, and they started building it again in 1950. In 1952, it was leased to the Tržič Mountaineering Society, and ten years later, it was permanently owned. The station was thus completed and officially opened in 1966, but after more than 30 years it completely burned down. PD Tržič built it again and since 2011 the hut has been welcoming mountaineers again.
